Featured in DWELL: Yerba Buena Street Life Plan and Parkmobiles
Sponsored by the Yerba Buena Neighborhood Benefit District, the Yerba Buena Street Life Plan was the culmination of an intensely public process, steered by lead consultants CMG Landscape Architecture. Through surveys, public meetings, community input, and charettes, and a long-term needs assessment, a 36-project proposal was created to serve as a road map for the next ten years of development in the Yerba Buena neighborhood, focusing on the streets, alleys, parks and plazas of the district and the creation of a unique identity for Yerba Buena.
This was in part accomplished by the introduction of Parkmobiles, repurposed dumpsters which include a bench and planting space for distinct gardens ranging from bird habitats to prehistoric Tazmanian fern landscapes. The six Parkmobiles will rotate around parking spots throughout the district every 2-3 months so that businesses and institutions can have chances to engage Yerba Buena's street life at their doorstep.
Hosting opportunities are now available for the remaining four Parkmobiles! To host a Parkmobile, please contact Andrew Robinson of the YBCBD at 415.644.0728.
