CMG collaborated with architect MaRK on the Taipei Pop Music Centre Competition addressing site constraints and program requirements as well as the concept of the TPMC as a paradox: an institution for a culture that thrives outside of the institution.  With its roots in counter-culture and artistic expression, pop music is also trendy and clichéd, as it is a part of the mainstream and supported by mass media. The design is an attempt to create an infrastructure for pop music that embraces these two opposing relationships of the music to the institution and integrates a sustainable, culturally productive and performative landscape with free public exhibition areas, amphitheaters, and ecological features.
