The Black Phoebe Project

Solicited by For-Site to submit a work for the Presidio Habitats exhibition of installations by artists, architects and designers, CMG proposed a performance and installation/set inspired by the Black Phoebe, a bird native to the Presidio and a "species of least concern". Illustrating the fundamentals of ecology by way of the Black Phoebe's relationship as a living organism to its environment, CMG proposed a temporary environment where performances would take place. Paired with a presentation board of the proposal, a video plays of the casting call. In it performers were asked to develop the Black Phoebe’s character as CMG’s client: the director of design and construction of its own “habitat”. The proposal is on view at the Presidio Habitats exhibit, May 2010 - 2011.
