The Presidio Health Services Hospital (PHSH) and surrounding outpost buildings have been retrofitted to accommodate new housing and the surrounding 42 acre grounds are being developed into a variety of programmed open spaces including dune restoration, public parks, and private residential gardens and courtyards. The process involves extensive community outreach, working with a variety of constituen- cies to ensure that the redevelopment enhances both the adjacent urban neighborhoods and its national park setting.
