Serramonte Library Stormwater Garden

CMG transformed the existing Serramonte Library front lawn into the Stormwater Treatment Garden, a facility using California native plant systems that adds an additional layer to an already vibrant community gathering area in Daly City's Gellert Park. CMG also designed graphic panels for the site to describe how the landscape functions as a bio-retention treatment area and cleans 120,000 sf of runoff from the adjacent parking area, and its relationship to the greater Bay Area watershed. The system protects the building from seasonal flooding; reduces volume and pollution impacts on the downstream estuary; and provides an attractive entry garden to this active civic place.
