CMG designed this 16 acre stormwater treatment wetland in collaboration with Balance Hydrologics. The wetland system will treat runoff from a largely urbanized 514 acre watershed and create a variety of freshwater marsh habitats. The eerie yet captivating quality of the vernacular landscape is embraced in the design concept of living infrastructure; a combination of ecological restoration, storm water conveyance and treatment, and public access and education. A multi-use trail system with interpretive overlooks provides opportunities for public access and education. The way finding signage and interpretive program developed by CMG includes panels addressing regional water quality issues, bay watersheds, and ecological systems, and elaborates on the function of the stormwater treatment system.
