Communications Manager

Communications Manager

CMG is currently seeking a creative person with a strong interest in design and the public realm to join our Marketing Team as the Communications Manager. Working under the supervision of the Marketing Director, the Communications Manager is responsible for development of thought leadership narratives and publications in strategic locations. This individual will capture CMG’s stories, develop content for promotion in our desired target markets and to place them in publications, including press releases, press kits, award submissions, social media, mailers, web site, and marketing collateral. The Communications Manager is expected to coordinate with writers, publishers, editors, photographers, and consultants required to meet the objectives of the job, including cost management and accountability for outcomes.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage digital marketing, award submission, photography and social media.
  • Manage website content, structure, updating information and reworking website design.
  • Manage award submissions and track results.
  • Coordinate with project staff to capture project stories, develop stories for publication and place content in desired locations.
  • Coordinate marketing collateral, including project image files, project descriptions, data, resumes, and firm descriptions.
  • Coordinate content for external communications such as press releases, press kits.
  • Contact publication editors to place CMG content such as articles and blogs.
  • Oversee graphic design support staff, as required to support work.


  • Experience working within the marketing realm of a design firm, A/E/C industry preferable.
  • Passion for great storytelling and excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Professional with a high degree of personal responsibility and accountability.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast‐paced environment.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office applications.

Mid-Level Landscape Architect

CMG is currently seeking a Mid-Level Landscape Architect to join our passionate team and act as project captain or manager in our San Francisco Studio.  CMG works on a wide range of initiatives, project scales and types, with the philosophy that all of our work accrues as the single overarching project of improving communities. With utility and aesthetics as drivers, CMG creates urban landscapes that explore the democracy of public space and ecological function.

This motivated individual has 5-10 years of professional experience with interest and experience in the following areas:

  • Working on complex design projects with collaborative teams
  • Conceptual and technical interest and ability
  • Managing people: organizing and motivating internal and consultant teams
  • An understanding of landscape systems, preferably California ecology and climate
  • Participation in all design phases (Concept through Construction Documentation)
  • Working with regulatory agencies to plan and permit projects


  • A degree in landscape architecture, or a related field
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Sketch-Up and/or Rhino required; Revit preferred.
  • Experience in a collaborative team environment
  • Applicant needs to have initiative, and be self-directed
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

Join CMG Landscape Architecture’s team of passionate and innovative designers for our summer internship. We are looking for motivated and creative individuals to participate in design and production efforts on a range of local and regional landscape and urban design projects. Together with CMG principals and designers, interns will also explore research questions that advance CMG’s design research and long-term project initiatives. Applicants should desire a highly collaborative environment where critical thinking is valued and required.
