Treasure Island’s first major park set to open, with sweeping S.F. skyline views

Cityside Park is a public promenade along Treasure Island’s west shore facing San Francisco’s soaring skyline. The first 6 acres of what will eventually be a 24-acre park will open Sept. 13. TICD contracted CMG Landscape Architecture to build Cityside Park, which will function as a regular city park, with bicycle and hiking paths, a great lawn, 20-foot picnic tables, and barbecue grills.

Yerba Buena Island

Situated in the middle of San Francisco Bay, Yerba Buena Island is a remarkable 150-acre ecological resource with many unique and significant features, including steep topography and vegetated hillsides; dramatic views of San Francisco Bay and Treasure Island; a deep cultural history; and intact communities of native flora and fauna – some unique to Yerba Buena Island. The redevelopment of the island balances new housing, infrastructure and the programming of active open spaces with protection and restoration of the island’s natural character in a way that respects its ecological diversity and habitat.
